I walked around Granada by myself. I got to Plaza Nuevo Square at first.
It’s the oldest square with many historical buildings such as the Royal Chancellery which is a general term for a medieval writing office, responsible for the production of official documents and St. Ana church which is a catholic church.
Despite its name Plaza Nueva (New Square), it is the oldest square in Granada. Nevertheless, there are many good restaurants and bars around the square, as it lies in the centre of the city.
So you can spend time here having a good food and drink after you visited the historical buildings.
The square was built to cover up the River Darro which flows underneath in order to create more space in the city. What’s more, it was formerly one of the most important parts of the city where various tournaments, games and bullfights were held as well as public executions.
From Plaza Nueva in Granada, I walked up to the Albaycin along the river Darro. The river was originally named after the Roman word for gold due to the fact that people used to pan for gold on its banks.
Many old and tasteful houses lined up along the river.
Besides, it’s sunny on the day.
It seemed like that many people were walking with a light heart.
I wasn’t an exception either.
When I looked up unintentionally, I could see the palace Alhambra above.
The view was tasteful and it gave me different impression from before, as I saw it from the different place this time.
But it fitted into the atmosphere of the place.
Meanwhile, I reached Albaycin. The Albaycin is like a different world within Granada. Maybe it’s because the strong Muslim influence in this area.
Although, I already walked here with my host the other day, I explored again and walked into the narrow alley.
I saw many cute houses decorated with the flowers and the impressive view of Granada from the above of the hill of Albaycin while walking.
When someone show me around the place, I can travel easily and know well about the place.
Nevertheless, when I explore alone, I can see a casual view as I dont expect.
Later, I started going back to the center of Granada after I explored Albaycin.
On the way back, I came across a street performance of Flamenco. The Flamenco is one of the highlights in Spain. Some people imagine Flamenco, speaking of Spain.
There are many places to see a Flamenco show in Granada. Above all, a Flamenco show which is performed inside the cave is famous here in Granada.
Later, I went to see it with my host. The name of the place is Cuevas Los Tarantos. According to the website, it’s one of the famous places for a cave Flamenco. I already looked the place up in advance.
As the cave was narrow, I could see the performance closely and feel the enthusiasm of the performers.
After the show, I went home on foot to enjoy the night view without taking a transportation intentionally.
The illuminated view of Granada and were beautiful. I felt as if it illuminated my heart as well, not only the buildings.
