Speaking of the historical spot in Japan, which city would you imagine?
Large majority of people must think about Kyoto.
Needless to say, Kyoto is the most historical city in Japan. I love Kyoto. More and more foreigners visit Kyoto recently. Definitely, Kyoto is a can’t-miss spot to know Japanese history and culture.
But on the other hand, have you ever felt that Kyoto is so touristic that you can’t feel Japan so much. Beside Kyoto is so crowded with many tourists that you can’t feel relaxed so much.
I heard recently of this from my French friend.
Then, I heard about Kurashiki in Okayama prefecture from her. Honestly, Okayama is not so popular place to visit. I’d never been there.
We can go there from Osaka in about the three hours. So it’s possible to go for a day trip there. The transportation cost is around 3000yen one way.
The bus company I chose was Ryobi bus.
The bus departed at 7:10 in Nanba. And my journey started for Kurashiki.
The bus was really comfortable. I liked traveling by bus. I could see view on the way.
I spent time on the bus reading a book, sleeping, looking the view. So relaxing time.
The bus arrived in Kurashiki at around 11:00. The first impression I felt about Kurashiki was calmness.
Anyway, I headed to Bikan historical area which was a main spot of Kurashiki. It’s 10minutes from Kurashiki station. It’s furnished as the area which was under control of Edo Shogunate.
While walking from the station, I found a nice street! It’s Bikan street!
The nice stalls and cafes lined along the river.
The white wall houses which still have an old atmosphere.
The trees of Yanagi which means willows line along the river.
The view was so impressive that I liked here as soon as I arrived.
I found it more relaxing compared to Kyoto.
I met French friend in Bikan bridge and started exploring Bikan area, Kurashiki!
We went to Achi shrine which was situated at the highest place of Kurashiki. There was a observatory. The view from there was picturesque. The white and old houses line were even more beautiful from the observatory.
The premise of that was larger than I expected and had a historical atmosphere.
As many trees was planted around there, I could enjoyed walking on the way as well.
Later, we rode on the boat and cruised the river. The view from the boat was really nice! We could see a town view from different angle.
After that, I went to Ohara museum which collected western arts for the first time in Japan. I think that it’s one of most famous museums in Japan.
The exterior of that was greek style and the two statue of the Rodin welcomed me in the entrance. He is famous for the sculpture“The thinker” I think that everyone knows it.
Honestly, I don’t have a sense of art. But I couldn’t help feeling the greatness of human’s creativity and imagination when I saw the elaborate art.
And I liked the atmosphere of the museum. The particular quietness made my heart calm.
After the museum, I walked around the town by myself. As the old houses still remain here, it aroused my curiosity just to walk around.
Then, I sit by the Kurashiki river and looking the view before me without do anything. It’s really relaxing time!
I thought that was how important to relax.
I’d tried to do something not to waste my time for a while. But I might need to empty the heart like this to relax.
Then,I went back to Osaka by bus again.
So if you like, why don’t you try traveling to Kurashiki?
